Alfred Molison, Jr., has been active with the Green Party of Texas since its founding in 2000, having served at various times as a state co-chair, state treasurer, and an at-large steering committee member. In 2022, he ran for the position of Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, garnering more than 133,000 votes (1.67%).

In 2026, he is seeking the office of Texas Agriculture Commissioner to make Texas agriculture prioritize People and Planet over corporate profits.

A Fresh Vision for Texas Agriculture

Promoting and educating communities on urban gardens and farms to produce vastly more efficient, healthier food networks

Better, long-term water solutions for farmers, ranchers, and small towns

More dependable electricity supply for rural communities

Renewed, reliable, and safer transportation, roads, bridges, tunnels, and railroads (both light and heavy rail)—first for passengers, then for freight

Alfred will implement the right—outlined in President Franklin Roosevelt’s proposed Second Bill of Rights—“of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give…his family a decent living.”

The Green Movement: Four Pillars, Ten Key Values

The Green Party of the United States (GPUS) makes all policy decisions based on the Ten Key Values of the international Green Movement. Four of those Values serve as the pillars of the Green Party:

  • Ecological Wisdom and Sustainability

  • Grassroots Democracy

  • Non-Violence

  • Social Justice and Equal Opportunity

One section of the GPUS Platform, under the value of Ecological Sustainability, is Regenerative Agriculture. The steps outlined in that subsection are designed to help minimize agriculture’s contribution to climate disruption.

About Alfred

Alfred is a product of Sharpstown High School and the University of Texas—Austin (BS, Radio Television & Film). He served the public good for 23 years as a contact service representative at the Social Security Administration.

A course in permaculture, through Urban Harvest of Houston, inspired in Alfred a passion for the possibilities of change in agricultural systems, and for moving people from food insecurity to food sovereignty.
